They're fine, but you'll know right away whether or not this is your kind of thing. Generally, I love fables, but these were mostly a bit too simple for me.
I guess I like my fables to be more like Calvino and less like, well, Tutoala.

He has several and they're all rather short and inexpensive, so it seems like something worth checking out. - Cheeky Frawg Book Release: Jagannath by Karin Tidbeck (recommended by NPR) - BORNE CENTRAL.
One thing that might have improved the book is if it had been less zealously edited. The afterword contains an example passage from one of the stories before editing, and the language use is at least interesting, whereas the edited version is very plain.

Amos Tutuola 20 June — 8 June was a Nigerian writer famous for his books based in part on Yoruba folk-tales. Despite his short formal education, Tutuola wrote his novels in English. His writing's grammar often relies more on Yoruba orality than on standard English.
