There aren't any big "fireworks" moments of suspense or drama, but there's a great balance of everyday authenticity, frustrating misunderstandings, and joyous revelations and occasions. The cast of secondary characters rounds out this delightful little story of a small-town reunion full of big-time love. In high school and part of his early college life, Holly was the only girl he had eyes for. She was the woman he wanted to marry… until she broke his heart by breaking it off with him. After she ended things, neither one of them moved on. Now that Josh is back, their feelings seem to still have a spark… but is that enough for a second chance? As with any novella, pacing and timing seems to be key factors to making anything work and be a smooth experience for the reader.
Becky manages this flawlessly. There is already a clear established relationship between the couple, which goes a long way in lending authenticity to the eventual ending. Speaking of those characters, I adored Josh and Holly. I found myself loving his character. Sweetly imagined and poignant in unexpected places, Love in the Details is a next-to-perfect novella. If short stories are your guilty pleasure, then picking up a copy of this is a must.
Sincere thanks to NetGalley and author for a complimentary e-copy of this novella. Eight years ago, Holly and Josh were college freshmen and completely in love. As the two work closely together, old feelings that never went away are pulled to the surface. Holly never told Josh the true reason she broke up with him.
Now, she has a chance to tell her secret. But will the painful reason of their breakup years ago create a chasm that can never be healed? Or is the time right now for the two of them to have a future together? I loved every aspect of this book. Becky Wade has fast become one of my favorite authors. I loved how Josh and Holly were both changed from the teens they once were into the adults they became.
I also loved how each became stronger as a result of their breakup. Josh literally had me sighing just a little as he spent more and more time with Holly. And when he found out the true reason she broke up with him, he was able to recognize that it was a good thing for the time. And I loved how Holly was so sweet and caring to everyone.
She even managed to get on the goodside of the professional wedding coordinator. This is recommended to anyone who enjoys happy endings, and fluffy romance. I received this book for free from BookLook Bloggers for the purpose of reviewing.
Christian Fiction Keeps Its Allure
My thoughts and opinions are my own. Household work should be shared. He might be a "perfect husband," but Sam is far from a perfect wife. It isn't right to make light of "holy" like that. Literally, none of Holly's friends are good role models or pleasant side characters.
Love on the Range: A Christian Western Romance
Anyway, I did like Holly and Josh. I loved that she's an author. I liked that there was a specific Christian mention even in this small story. But there were too many dislikes for me to rate it really high. She realistically portrays two people who were once in a relationship, meeting again after many years and different roads of life. Dec 06, Jen. Holly and Josh were a joy to root for! The pain of the past eight years has been too much to bear and he doesn't want to make himself vulnerable to her again. But the more time he spends with her, the harder it is to deny the love he still has for her. And even though she longs to be with Josh, she's terrified of letting herself fall for him again. Or will they risk their hearts on the hope that God's timing really can be best? My Review This was a sweet novella about two high school sweethearts getting another chance at love.
Josh and Holly had a deep connection and love for each other so when she broke up with him after high school, they both had a lot of pain and heartache to work through. I liked how they reconnect during the book - cautiously but without anger. They find out quickly that the spark is still there. Now they just have to convince themselves to let go of their fear and learn to trust again.

I would say her friend Sam was I didn't agree with her advice to Holly most of the time, but Holly was strong enough to make her own decisions. Josh, on the other hand, was a little harder to identify with.
At times I was surprised by the motivation of some of his actions since we weren't able to get a look into how he made some of the decisions he did, but I understand time and word count is limited in a novella. Overall, I enjoyed the story, though I would have liked to see more of Holly and Josh together on the page. What pulled me toward the end the most was the fact that they had more interaction and we could see the internal workings of their hearts. All those lovely things that make you swoon! I was in the mood for a quick, light read and this was a perfect fit. I didn't bother reading the synopsis before starting, just dove right in! That's fun to do sometimes. This was a sweet lost-love story, you could really feel the emotions and chemistry and it was fun to see them rekindle those old feelings.

Jett, he's just a good looking cowpoke who has the responsibilities of the Paycoach family ranch on his shoulders. Jan 31, Mary rated it really liked it. Sweet, clean Romance For the most part I loved this book. The parts I didn't like referred to Marlee attending Culinary school. There wasn't a definite explanation as to why she decided she wanted to become a Chef. Yes, I understand she wasn't a good accountant, but there wasn't any reason to explain why she thought she would be a successful Chef. The end of the book was confusing If the Paycoach family lost about 40 head of cattle, that heard had to be small if that was about half. Then the possibility of them losing the ranch too??
Some parts just didn't make sense. Nov 22, Anne rated it really liked it. This is my first story from Nightsong. I enjoyed the setting and characters. Love in the Details: A November Wedding Story by Becky Wade
I enjoyed the fact this was a sweet heartwarming clean Christian read for those times when you do not want anything heavy just wanting to relax with a good story. I found the baiting back and forward between Marlee and Jett to be delightful. From the moment she steps off the train There were things that made this a 5 star read for me and other places where it was more of a 4 star.
From the moment she steps off the train she starts out on the wrong foot with not much changing as she takes on her new job which is rather confusing for her. When she finds out what all it entitles she is at a loss for words saying no way not happening. I loved her knifes they bought many hours of entertainment. Marlee is a chef but her training has not prepared her for her new job.
She fines cooking on an open fire totally different from cooking on a stove. Once the trail ride is over I am sure she will be hugging and kissing her stove never to leave it again. She steps up takes action even if it gets her in over her head. Jett has a lot on his plate taking over the full running of the ranch with the owner trying to take care of his family with one dead and another in the hospital at deaths door he just cannot cope with life leaving Jett to take over.
Jett is trying his best to do the job when Marlee comes along he just shakes his head trying to make the best of the green horn. He is sure in for some very trying times as Marlee keeps him on his toes. I truly loved this story I just did not feel the chemistry between the two as much as I would have liked. At times I thought it moved a little slow just as I was getting ready to put it up for the night the author hooked me with some action packed that had me turning the pages.
Since this is a series maybe some of the questions will be explained later on but I just felt like there was not any closure. I did love the ending which at one point was heart breaking and then took off with a scene that will leave you smiling. I enjoyed them getting to know each other, watching their love grow and the matchmakers are very humorous keeping things moving right along. You will be so surprised when something happens that puts some major action into the read.
The stories of Bridgett and Tony, Fred and Ginger, Elaine and James and many more has hit many storms on their journeys of love and life but each one reminded me that even in my own life, to keep dancing, to keep your head held high, that you are loved and you can win all battles. Dancing in the storm will make you stronger, will bless you and will bring peace to your heart and soul. I really enjoyed this set of short stories by each author and I think you will too.

There was something for everyone in this collection - a sci-fi action story, a few contemporary romances, fantasy fiction, a futuristic drama, and a world war romance. Some of the topics and scenarios were unique to what I normally read about so that too, was a nice surprise. Of the nine books, eight were obviously Christian based literature with mentions of their Christian faith, prayer, and at times scriptures.
However, one of the stories in it was a cute fantasy story that was complete with elves and gnomes and it had me wondering why it was included in the anthology. Was the religion alluded to in it meant to be an allegory of Christianity? Either way, it was an imaginative and colorful tale with a whole lot squeezed into it's tiny frame. Admittedly, I almost quit reading after just the first few pages of the collection. This was because the heroine of the very first story was someone I could not relate to. I wanted to yell at her. Yes, really yell at her. I could not fathom her decisions.
But I read on and I am glad I gave her a real chance. So, if you find yourself wanting to yell at her too, keep reading. It is worth it. You might even be like me - anxious and ready for a part two of her story! In summary, I enjoyed and finished every single story. Naturally, some more than others. These two books were completely opposite of each other in their content and style, but both left me in love with their memorable characters.
