Some insurance doesn't cover videos past a certain amount of time, but video therapy has it's place. I use them, but I don't like force clients to more than they're paying for.
Rent Two Films and Let's Talk in the Morning: Using Popular Movies in Psychotherapy
Videos are a nice way to disrupt or break up montany during intensive sessions. More of a good space filler for state certification programs too. Actual insurance paydays like shorter imagery, meditation, etc. If you homework clients and need a good video list though. It's not like clients don't get a movie name if motivational interviewing leads to the client interest. It gives mainstream film examples, citing what topics they best address, so you can tailor which film is on point for each client.

Good resource for counselors in this electronic age. As a clinical social worker and marriage and family therapist, I have found this book very useful.
Different clients relate to therapy in different ways. Not all clients are verbal. Many are visual, and many are a combination of several learning modalities. Using films in psychotherapy helps with insight, therapy itself, and utilizes metaphors as a way to move forward in the therapy process.
